Here are a few ways in which you can make your property available to those in need from the fires:
Airbnb.org
AirBNB.org, a non-profit 501(c)3, has announced that they will work with their network of hosts and non-profit organizations to connect hosts and those needing temporary housing in the coming weeks and months. This entity operates independently from AirBNB.com but leverages their technology and other resources at no cost to carry out its charitable purposes.

The site can be used for existing hosts or those not on AirBNB who wish to offer housing to victims and emergency workers. You can choose to offer your property free or at a discount. The rent will be paid by donations that AirBNB.org receives, not the renters. AirBNB will waive all of their fees to guests & renters. They will provide $1 million USD in liability insurance and $3 million USD in damage protection. Feel free to post any questions as we are in contact with this organization and can try and get answers.
The Hawaii Fire Relief Housing Program
The Hawaii Fire Relief Housing Program is also connecting those in need of temporary housing with those that can provide it. Their website has a form for hosts as well as for fire-displaced Maui residents to fill out, saying what kind of housing they need. The program serves as a referral service, matching potential tenants and housing providers. The Hawaii Housing Finance and Development Corp. does not screen renters so that is your responsibility.

We know there are many of these types of “renter-host” connection efforts going on as the process is very fluid. At this point, it is better to sign up for any or all the options you are comfortable with to improve the options of helping out. We will provide more information and answers to any questions as we get them.
